Murder, drug crimes, child pornography, child
abduction, indifference and apathy have become staples of our daily news in
Jacksonville as well as around our nation. We are quickly becoming communities
separated and intolerant of one another. These issues demonstrate the reason
why we have organized the Jacksonville Area Women's Conference. We can not
survive as a community or as a nation if we do not come together at a grass
roots level in our own communities to breakdown the barriers of prejudice and
repair our families and our communities. We are no longer a nation of one but
have become a nation of discord and dissatisfaction. We have lost faith. Faith
in God. Faith in ourselves. Faith in each other. When the tornadoes,
earthquakes and man made tragedies come, as they will, will we stand together?
Will we continue to hear the news of school shootings and child abductions and
then soon forget and go on with out making any corrections to our course?
The Jacksonville Area Women's Conference is a
platform to begin the bridges and eventually work on solutions together. We
begin within ourselves and expand from there. We no longer have the luxury of
waiting for the next generation to act. Let us be that generation. A
generation remembered for building and not tearing down. Let us be women of
character, faith, hope and virtue so that we may build families and communities
with respect for life, respect for each other. Let us not be black or white,
Democrat or Republican, Baptist or Muslim. Let us be 'one in purpose' and let
that purpose be to live in a safe, respectful, industrious community.
We are a group of women from various backgrounds,
races and religions who have gathered together with the common goal to
Strengthen Our Community by Strengthening and Uniting Our Women. The event is a
day of learning and strengthening through professionally instructed classes,
wonderful entertainment, a delicious lunch and inspiring speakers.
The Conference is free to all women
18 and over. No specific political or religious agenda will be followed. Anyone
participating may have their business or organization name/logo posted on the
web site; jaxwomensconference.com, as well as on the programs for
the event. No soliciting is allowed during event but business cards may be
available for those who request them from the instructors.
